As TILT’s inaugural Editor and lead for new-destination development and promotion, Jan brings a rare combination of strategic brilliance, lived experience, and a lifelong passion for exploring the world’s most extraordinary places.
Jan’s professional foundation was built in the high-performance world of management consulting, serving in senior strategy roles at boutique consulting firms, major Fortune 500 firms and top tier national universities. Across more than two decades, she became known for her ability to solve complex problems, guide multi-stakeholder transformation, build resilient partnerships, and create strategic clarity in environments where the stakes were high and the path forward was anything but simple.
Her career has included:
- Founding roles in major healthcare strategy practices.
- Systems-level strategy development across government, for profit and nonprofit sectors.
- Experience managing rigorous, conflict-heavy, multi-party initiatives.
- Advisory positions for numerous mission-driven organizations.
Yet it is Jan’s lived experience – not only her professional one – that sets her apart.
For over 20 years, Jan has navigated the world with a progressive degenerative disability (MS), experiencing firsthand the limits, frustrations, and exclusions that many travellers with mobility impairments encounter daily. But she has never let those limits define her. Instead, they have shaped her determination to expand possibility – for herself, her family, and for the millions of travellers who deserve access to the same transformative, soul-lifting experiences that nondisabled travellers take for granted.
As a travel writer, Jan is irresistibly drawn to the places once considered off-limits to wheelchair users or those with reduced mobility: wilderness regions, nature reserves, remote landscapes and far-flung retreats where beauty is powerful and perspective-shifting. Her writing captures these moments not just as destinations, but as acts of resilience, joy, and reclamation. She travels to prove – quietly but insistently – that inclusion isn’t a luxury. It’s a right.
Her mission is simple: to reshape luxury travel so that every traveller, whatever their mobility, can experience wonder without limitation.
This is why her joining Inclu – and taking the helm at TILT (The Inclusive Luxury Traveller) feels not just natural, but necessary. TILT is more than a magazine; it is a platform for a global shift in how luxury hospitality and destinations think about access, belonging, and possibility. And Jan, with her strategic mind, global advisory experience, deep industry relationships, and personal commitment to inclusive adventure, is singularly equipped to lead it.
